SAFETY & SELF-DEFENSE

I've been in the martial arts  for over 25 years. This includes not only as an instructor but I've put together my own women’s self-defense class. I've taught in Federal Way YMCA and for the Auburn & Kent Parks Dept. (1992-1996). I was also a safety & security volunteer for the 1998 Special Olympics and the 2000 Jr. World Swim Trials at the King Co. Aquatic pool.

SEARCH & RESCUE

I was part of the Pierce County Search & Rescue 4x4 unit. I utilized my old, Toyota Tacoma 4x4 pickup truck which I outfitted with gear and supplies to meet the required equipment to perform search and rescue operations. I did this for about a year with some great and dedicated people (2002-2003).

TECH-TUTOR

My background in computers helped me volunteer as a tutor for the king county library in Federal Way and Pacific, WA. This includes teaching introductory classes in Microsoft Word and Excel and the Internet (2013-2014).

POLICE DEPTS.

I've volunteered for the Federal Way & Auburn police departments for various projects. Primarily, moving/positioning the speed radar trailer using a police cruiser, stocking food machine, patrolling parking lots for stolen cars, served subpoenas with a partner, move police cars to maintenance shop or where needed and created a survey database system (2003-2004).

GUARDIAN AD-LITEM

This volunteer position was in Benton County. After completing the training class, I would be assigned to a family to interview and take notes from the children who were going through a rough time in the family. Notes were private and secured, only presented to the volunteer supervisor and to the Juvenile Court Judge when asked for during the hearings (1988).

YOUTH CAMPS

Most of my volunteer time has been spent with our church's youth camps. I've acted in the capacity as the safety and security, activity assistant in flag football/frisbee and as the activity lead in softball/ultimate frisbee (1999, 2000-2006).
